"What began as a way to help Chris Conner, now touches community.  It doesn’t matter what you sound like in music therapy, just as long as you’re involved. That’s the philosophy at music therapy sessions at Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital. -Otis Taylor, The State Newspaper

The Christopher Conner Foundation is excited to continue supporting the "Rockin' Out for the Kids" music program.   This program supprts the music therapy program at Palmetto Health Richland Children's Hospital, as well as partners with other organizations in South Carolina to promote healing through music.  The Conner Foundation has donated age appropriate instruments to the music therapy program including bells, chimes, lollipop drums, congas, guitars, egg shakers and others as well as a karaoke machine.  The Conner Foundation also provided the children of Palmetto Health with Apple Ipods and portable DVD players, allowing even the sickest of children who are unable to attend music therapy sessions the opportunity to experience the healing effects of music.  Research has shown that music has measurable healing effects on the body.  It can help strengthen the immune system, reduce pain and certainly uplift the spirit!

This year the Conner Foundation has expanded this program to partner with Camp Kemo as a sponsor for Camp Kemopalooza, a fundraiser that helps offset costs of the camp, which is attended by children with cancer along with their siblings.  In addition, the foundation has worked with the Nancy K. Perry Children's Shelter in a music instrument drive led by Junior Foundation Member, Graci Conner.

Community support is essential to the mission of the Christopher Conner Foundation and we are thankful for each and every person who is responsible for helping us meet our goal of bringing music into the lives of these children.
