"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, gaiety and life to everything. It is the essence of order and lends to all that is good and just and beautiful." ~ Plato

As part of our Rockin' Out For the Kids program, we were delighted to treat t'wo cottages from Epworth Children's Home to a production of A Christmas Carol at the Village Square Theatre. It was a great afternoon, big thanks to Village Square Theater for accomodating our crowd and for the gingerbread cookies!

The 4th Annual Golf for Conner Tournament & Silent Auction was a great success.  Held on Monday, October 24 at the Country Club of Lexington, we had 32 teams and a great day of golf and celebration!  Thank you so much to all of our golfers, sponsors, and volunteers who helped make it all possible.  This is our only fundraiser for The Conner Foundation and the generosity of the community is always a little staggering.  We could not continue without your support.  Thank you!  Please visit our Golf for Conner page.

The Christopher Conner Foundation is currently planning a fundraising benefit for local Columbia musician, Robert Newton.  Robert is an amazing musician in his own right and has taught some of the greatest music talent to come out of South Carolina, including Chris Conner.  A Tribute to Robert Newton was originally slated for August 20, 2011, but has been rescheduled due to an overwhelming response from musicians who want to participate.  The event will take place early 2012.  An online fundraising page is available for those who would like to make a tax-deductible donation to this event.  Please visit our events page for more information.

Congratulations to Miss Graci Conner, junior Conner Foundation representative.  As part of a community service project for the Little Miss South Carolina Pageant, Graci organized a toy music instrument drive to benefit the Nancy K. Perry Children's Shelter.  On April 12, 2011 Graci presented 25 musical instruments, including a karaoke machine donated by the Conner  Foundation to the children at Nancy K. Perry, as well as performed an original dance piece during their annual volunteer appreciation dinner.  Good job Graci, we're so proud of you!

The Christopher Conner Foundation is proud to present the "Here Today" Music Scholarship to Miss Rebekah Swygert who will be attending Presbyterian College as a music major in fall 2011.  Congratulations, Rebekah!  Applications and requirements fior this and the "Never Said It Was Easy" Financial Assistance Program can be downloaded and printed from the scholarship and financial assistance links on this page.  Applications should be mailed to The Christopher Conner Foundation, P.O. Box 84215, Lexington, SC  29073.  Scholarships are presented in May and November.  Financial assistance is granted to a musician demonstrating financial need due to hardship such as illness. This program also provides assistance for substance abuse treatment including smoking cessation.

The Christopher Conner Foundation is looking forward to 2011 and making an even greater impact on our community.  We plan to expand our "Rockin' Out for the Kids" program to encompass not only a partnership with the music therapy program at Palmetto Health Children's Hopsital, but also other programs in South Carolina to provide healing through music.  The Conner Foundation is also proud to sponsor Camp KEMOPALOOZA, the premier fundraiser for Camp Kemo.  We have several other ventures in the works in addition to continuing our scholarship and financial assistance program.  More information to come!

The Christopher Conner Foundation presented the children of Palmetto Health Children's Hospital with the gift of music in 2010.  In addition to donating Apple Ipods, headphones and DVD players, the Conner Foundation also gifted the music therapy program with chiquita marracas, baby-safe egg shakers and a brand new karaoke machine compatible with their Apple ipods.

As always, thank you to our generous community for your support and for allowing us to continue helping others in Chris' name.
